The San Francisco African-American Historical and Cultural Society and historian John William Templeton, historian in residence at the African-American Art & Culture Complex since 1995, both marked their 70th birthday on Feb. 7, 2025 during the kickoff of the 48th Black History Month in the Rotunda of San Francisco City Hall

The Black Encyclopedia has served as chair of the Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corp., winner of the 2023 Local Initiatives Support Corp. Community Partner of the Year, since 2019.  During 2026, CBEDC opens Bville Hub with support from New York City Regional Economic Development Corp. and Empire State Development following a planning grant from Robinhood Foundation and New York Women’s Foundation.
