State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden was elected to lead the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) as President, starting Janu- ary 1, 2022. Wooden was unanimously elected by his peers, during the NAST 2021 Annual Meeting Conference this week.
In Treasurer Wooden’s current role as Senior Vice President of NAST, he and his colleagues focused on advocating for federal funding to provide aid to state and local governments to help stabilize the financial markets and improve the financial stability of hard-working families amidst the global pan- demic. “It’s an honor to be elected to serve as President of NAST,” said State Treasurer Wooden. “I look forward to working closely with State Treasurers across the country as we collaborate to find solutions to some of the most pressing fiscal challenges of our time. Through our diverse experi- ences and bipartisan approach, we will continue to be a voice in the U.S. Capitol and put forth poli – cies and programs that strengthen state fiscal management. These focused efforts will benefit resi- dents of Connecticut and those in every corner of our nation.”
