SAN FRANCISCO — A collaboration between Nigerian farms, a globally-recognized biochemist, an HBCU and a rural development group in the United States is among the highlights of Innovation&Equity22: 50 Most Important African-Americans in Technology on Jan. 15, 2023 here.

The December edition of the Journal of Black Innovation has Dr. Viola A. Nicholas-Okpara of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research in Oshodi who is working with farmers in five Nigerian states to develop nutriceuticals to address sickle cell disease and breast cancer.   As well, she is a visiting faculty at N.C. A&T  State under the sponsorship of the Green Rural Development Organization in Henderson, N.C.

The issue also includes the 22d annual 50 Most Important African-Americans in Technology who gather for the Journal’s annual scientific proceeding under the theme Economic and Scientific Priorities for the Biden-Harris Administration, African Union and Caribbean Community.

A distinguished group of presenters includes Bridget Ssamula, CEO of the Engineering Council of South Africa; Wayne Perry, a principal with Pacific Waterfront Partners; and Dr. Vincent Oria, professor of engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
