RICHMOND — VOTEBLACKBUSINESS: State of Black Business, 21st edition ranks Virginia eighth in its annual Black Business Affinity Index.
The return of Democratic control of both houses of the legislature prevented efforts to dismantle its nationally-heralded minority business programs which dated back to the time of Gov. L. Douglas Wilder in the 1990s.
Speaker Don Scott, pictured above with U.S. Rep. Jennifer McClelland, became the first Black to head the House of Delegates, America’s oldest legislative body.
