New OMB Director calls for additional pandemic response funding

WASHINGTON- Confirmed as permanent OMB Director on March 15, Shalanda Young advises Congress that an additional $22 billion is needed for the continuing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Additional resources will be needed soon to ensure we have enough treatments, vaccines, and tests for the American people and to prepare for any future variants,” the former House Appropriations Committee staff director said in a statement.

Following a 61-36 vote, Young became the first African-American woman to hold the OMB post.
