Description
The 15th annual Preserving California Black Heritage returns to in-person participation in 2022 in the Year of Woodson for the centennial of Dr. Carter G. Woodson’s first textbook. As the Year of Woodson demands that every classroom provide African-American learners with the tools to know themselves, our focus is on instilling those competitive advantages for every student. Activities include Mapping Mary and Maya, the California African-American Freedom Trail sea cruise and the preview of the first National Register nomination for African-American sites in San Francisco. Top historians from museums, genealogy and preservation are available along with leaders from San Francisco’s 170-year-old institutions in the 1852 Coalition.
