Taking advantage of his stay in New York, the United States of America where he took part in the 80th ordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Félix Tshisekedi chaired, this Friday, the Side event DRC Digital National 2030.

In front of a room full of investors and businessmen from different sectors of activity, the Head of State presented this activity as “the key to unleashing the potential of the DRC, creating millions of jobs and ensuring truly shared prosperity. Driven by firm political will.”

“If we are gathered today, it is to affirm a clear and measured ambition: to make the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) a prosperous digital nation and a technological hub in the heart of Africa by 2030,” he said.

For him, it is a paradigm shift to fully capture digital dividends and position the DRC, rich in rare minerals and critical essential to digital and energy transitions – as a catalyst for investment and providers of solutions to the great challenges of our time.

The President of the Republic has spread out some pillars of his technological policy that concern infrastructure, content and usage as well as governance and regulation.
He said that digital technology occupies a central place in its technological development policy, since its coming to power in 2019.

Strongly convinced that the acceleration of digital transformation will bring about a mature, resilient and sustainable economy, President Felix Tshisekedi revealed that “by this path, the DRC will become, by 2030, a prosperous digital nation and a technological hub in the heart of Africa — driving an inclusive and shared digital peace.”

In conclusion of his message, he thanked the companies and partners who have already invested in this sector in the DRC: “they testify to the trust placed in our country, which makes improving the business climate a constant priority,” he said.

The Head of State has issued a final appeal to those who are still reluctant to invest.
“The time to invest in the DRC has come. Join us and follow suit to build, with the Congolese people, an open, inclusive and prosperous digital nation,” he said.
